Welding methods
Early circumferential welding of ultra-high voltage high neck butt-welding flanges and steel pipe has two main methods: manual gas-shielded welding and fully automatic oscillating gas-shielded welding.
Based on the above two welding methods, individual manufacturers of ultra-high voltage steel pipe towers independently developed a special machine for internal and external submerged arc welding in order to achieve the production process according to the characteristics of the welding process to weld circumferential welding of High neck flange and steel pipes, which is a process of submerged arc welding of the workpiece for double-sided penetration welding, and no need to carry out the root-cleaning treatment during the welding process to ensure that the quality of the welding premise of the welding process to maximize the efficiency of the welding process.

Welding process
1.Position welding
Position welding must be carried out by welders with corresponding qualification certificates. Welding seam near the surface of the base material and both sides should be uniform, smooth, and no burrs, cracks, oxide, rust, grease, water and other impurities.
Positioning of the weld seam thickness should not be less than 3mm, and should not exceed the design of the weld height of 2/3, the length should not be less than 40mm, the spacing should be 200-300mm, and should be evenly distributed.
2. Welding environment
The wind speed during gas shielded welding is less than 2m/s; the relative humidity of the air is ≤80%; the surface of the weldment should be kept dry.
3. Preheating and inter-channel temperature control
Preheating temperature and inter-channel temperature should be determined based on a combination of factors, such as according to the chemical composition of steel, the joints of the constraints of the state, the size of the heat input, the level of hydrogen content of the molten metal as well as the welding method used to test.
4. In the welding process, the lowest inter-channel temperature ≥ preheating temperature, the highest inter-channel temperature ≤ 230 ℃.
