Forging is a processing method that uses forging machinery to apply pressure to metal blanks to cause plastic deformation to obtain forgings with certain mechanical properties, shapes and sizes. It is one of the two major components of forging (forging and stamping). Forging flange can eliminate defects such as loose cast metal produced during the smelting process and optimize the microstructure. At the same time, due to the preservation of complete metal flow lines, the mechanical properties of forgings are generally better than those of castings of the same material. Important parts with high loads and severe working conditions in related machinery are mostly forgings, except for simpler shapes that can be rolled plates, profiles or welded parts.

Advantages of forging

1. Greatly reduce the rheological resistance of metal, and its total pressure is equivalent to 10-20% of ordinary die forging. Save equipment investment and power consumption.

2. Significantly improve the plasticity of metal materials, the fluidity of the blank is good, it is easy to fill the mold cavity, the workpiece size accuracy is high after forging, the machining allowance is small, and even no machining is required.

3. Isothermal forging technology can form forgings with complex shapes, thin walls and high ribs in one fire; while ordinary die forging technology requires multiple forming for special difficult-to-deform alloys.

4. High material utilization rate, isothermal die forging reduces metal consumption by more than 50% compared with ordinary die forging.

The Production process of forged flange

Select high-quality steel billets for blanking, heating, forming, and cooling after forging. The forging process methods include free forging, die forging and tire die forging. During production, different forging methods are selected according to the quality of the Forged flange and the production batch.

The Basic process of free forging: During free forging, the shape of the forging is gradually forged from the blank through some basic deformation processes. The basic processes of free Forged flange include upsetting, drawing, punching, bending and cutting.

Flange forging process

The forging process generally includes the following steps: blanking, heating, forming and cooling after forging. Forging technology includes free forging, die forging and tire film forging. Among them, free forging is a very important production process in flange production.

Free forging has the advantages of low productivity and large processing allowance. However, the tool is simple and universal, and is widely used in single-piece small batch forgings with simple shapes. Free forging equipment includes air hammers, steam air hammers and hydraulic presses. They are respectively suitable for the production of small, medium and large forgings. Die forgings have high dimensional accuracy, small processing allowance, and more reasonable fiber structure distribution. The service life of parts can be further improved.

The basic process of free forging: In the free Flange forging process. The shape of the forging is gradually forged into a blank through some basic deformation processes. The basic process of free forging is upsetting. Stretching, stamping, bending and cutting.
